Profile
Josh Koskoff represents the third generation of Koskoffs at Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder and continues the family’s legacy of representing individuals against powerful opponents in challenging cases. Known for his dedication, compassion, and creativity, Josh brings a fresh and unique perspective to all his cases. Like his father and grandfather, Josh believes strongly in the role of the lawyer as a fighter whose sole purpose is to improve his clients’ lives through the legal system. He views the law as working only when it works for all people and not just the powerful. His personal concern for the welfare of each of his clients has won their trust and devotion.
Josh was recognized as an “Innovator” on TIME Magazine’s list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2025 for his impactful work in gun litigation. Koskoff obtained two historic victories on behalf of families of victims of the Sandy Hook School shooting and currently represents families of victims from the Highland Park and Uvalde mass shootings.
In 2022, after a nearly ten-year battle, Josh won a settlement for nine Sandy Hook families against Remington Arms Company: the manufacturer and marketer of the Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle used in the shooting. The settlement of $73 million dollars is the largest settlement ever paid to families of a mass shooting. Later that year, Josh won a second historic victory as part of a three-person team of Koskoff lawyers that secured a $1.5 billion defamation verdict against InfoWars owner Alex Jones in the case of Lafferty, et al. v. Alex Jones. This marked the largest verdict in Connecticut history and is believed to be the largest defamation verdict in U.S. history.
For nearly 25 years Josh has won tough courtroom battles throughout Connecticut establishing record verdicts in Medical Malpractice and other cases. Recent successful settlements also include a groundbreaking suit against Harvard University for their ownership of images depicting enslaved people (2025) and a substantial settlement against Yale University’s Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Clinic after a nurse with a fentanyl addiction repeatedly swapped anesthesia for saline (2024). This case was featured on the 2023 podcast The Retrievals from Serial Productions and The New York Times and started a conversation on medical gaslighting in women’s health care.
Josh has received numerous awards and recognition for his work and frequently speaks to lawyers and civic groups throughout America. He believes strongly in the role of the law as a means to improve his clients’ lives and as an agent for change, and he views the law as only working when it works for all people, not just those in positions of power.
Regardless of whether it’s a case of national importance, or it involves helping one family cope with catastrophic or life changing loss, Josh feels most rewarded fighting for his clients to try to help them have better and more satisfying lives.
